Paynesville is providing consistent moderate breezes to give the fleet some challenging windward legs as well as some fast reaches..
Here we go again , with skipper Kevin in the blue overalls
and Steve, his trusty apprentice.
Maria was ready to go...
everyone was rushing to get out there first ..
there was already spray in the face
relaxed on the way out...
ready for anything..
zinced up..
in the pink..
hot colours
What could be more fun
than another afternoon, messing around in boats..
James and his crew on the start boat have been doing a Stirling job
as we all wait for them to get the anchors down
some have time for a smile and a chat
Bob was in the pink..
the spectators were comfy..
while the rescue boats settle into position ..
I'm expecting scones and high tea are served on this elegant little boat...
the start sequence counts down...
and as simply as that the fleet were away
heading to the windward mark..
some were travelling solo..
while others bunched up..
some were getting wet,
while others kept their heads above water..
Michael Brown came round the leeward mark like a rocket,
looking very much at ease..
closely followed
.. just checking ...
colourful and fast
.. it was a stream of boats .. one after the other
a bit of lift off..
..it was thrilling stuff to watch...
bet that was a good feeling ...!!
others were more sedate...
lots of polite shuffling
... orderly line ups
it was a wave of Impulses...
they came two by two..
one after another ..
in a higgledy, piggledy mass
Note... Impulse sailors have very strong teeth..
they were scooting around everywhere
it was hard to keep up..
...there was no time for a High Tea on our boat!!
there were crowd scenes ..
.. and some stayed pixie calm..
Michael was back ...
with the competition on his tail...
I'm glad that's sorted!
Another one with good teeth...
Looking the gentleman sailor..
checking ahead..
not too hard....
it was getting messy ....
Now you have it organised !
it was close sailing ...
it was a constant stream...
and it is still the first race...
it was clearly time for tea..
The Rescue boats crews were enthralled ..
there were tourists lost from the Pacific Princess ( I think)
on a spider...
after that diversion ...
back to racing ...but the sun was so low and bright
we were getting washed out ..
but the action kept coming ..
there was still plenty of splash..
coming and going..
bad luck close to the finish line ..
bright light..
splish, splash
A heling hand for Bob
a plethora of sails..
it was time for a few 'effects'
sun and sparkle on the water
to finish the day here ...
