It appears that a majority of Impulse sailors and accompanying family spent New Years Day wandering Lakes Entrance and Metung , all doing our bit to share the love in the local economy.
The promised cold front had moved in overnight, bringing moderate windy conditions, some drizzly rain ( for which Victoria is Famous) and leaden grey skies....
Clearly, Skipper Kevin, knew what he was about , when he got dressed ...
We just hoped the sailors out there didn't confuse him with a rounding buoy!
and off they went on a nice clean start..
We then bolted for the windward mark to catch the action
as the front of the fleet approached their first rounding..
there was plenty of low down gymnastics...
everybody was having a workout, against the strengthening breeze
paths crossed..
viewpoints exchanged..
so far, no swimming...
after the leaders, the pack was tight
It was a wet ride on Juiced for Brad,
but behind all that spray
was a boy having a ball of fun..
others were not quite as thrill seeking
the weather was closing in, a squall about to hit..
as the fleet rounded the Leeward mark,
one by one...
around the mark..
Pixie Pink amongst the crowd
Michael and David , neck and neck,
wet, wet, wet,
the race continued,
much the same,
and as for Race 2....
the fleet lined up.... TWICE...
Two General Recalls....
Yes... back you go ... again...
until finally , they all got away
That wasn't the end of the story, but it was the end of the photos
Waves, rain, wet, capsizing boats, and a bit of broken gear, meant Rescue boat duties ,
and how many shots do we need of upside down Impulses?
Let us see what tomorrow brings...
